About

A sushi bar for the Conejo Valley

Hikari Sushi opened at 5790 Lindero Canyon Rd in October 2022, taking over the suite that housed Sushi Ai. Same corner of the Westlake Village Marketplace, a much longer menu.

Range, not ceremony

Plenty of sushi restaurants make you choose between a serious fish counter and a menu the whole table can order from. Hikari runs both. The case carries bluefin toro, king salmon, madai, uni and A5 wagyu; the roll list runs past a hundred, from a $6.99 cucumber roll to a $24.99 toro special.

Nothing about the room is precious. It's a casual, quiet, small dining room with a bar, table service, and a kitchen sending out udon, tonkatsu, Korean short rib and bento boxes alongside the sushi.

Three ways to eat here

Lunch, fast

A bento box with two items, miso soup, rice, salad and an egg roll $26.95. Or the 5-piece sushi combination — tuna, salmon, albacore, yellowtail and white fish, one of each, with a roll and miso soup — at $24.95. Both go out quickly.

Dinner at the bar

Sit at the counter, order sashimi by the piece, add a cold Kikusui or a Sapporo. The 10-piece Sushi Deluxe is the whole high-end case in one order.

Feeding a crowd

Four party trays, 52 to 64 pieces, $55.95 to $189.95. To-go only, 35-45 minutes. Good for an office lunch or a birthday.
